Police arrests 2 smugglers, seizes 200 grams of charas

KATHUA, Dec 11 : In its recent action against drug dealings and to neutralise the activities of drug peddlers within the district, Kathua police under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal today recovered approximately 200 grams of charas like narcotics from Chann Morrian area of Hiranagar Police Station, two persons were arrested and narcotics was seized.
Police said in the wee hours a team led by Inspector, Yash Paul Sharma, SHO Police Station (PS), Hiranagar under the supervision of SDPO Border, Sachit Mahajan during patrolling duty near Chann Morrian noticed two suspects roaming in the area who were asked to stop for checking. On physical checking of Arun Sharma son of Thakar Dass of Jakhbar tehsil, Nagri Kathua one black colour polythene containing (04 long solid pieces) weighing approximately 100 grams of Charas was recovered and on the other hand on physical checking of Sunil Singh son of Karnail Singh of Bera tehsil, Mahanpur district Kathua another black coloured polythene containing nine solid pieces of charas like narcotics weighing approximately 100 grams making a total of 200 grams of charas like narcotics was recovered from their possession. All the recovered narcotics was seized and both the persons were arrested on spot.
A case vide FIR No. 160/2021 U/S 8/20/ NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station, Hiranagar while further investigation is underway.
