JAMMU, Nov 22: Jammu State Morcha (JSM) has demanded that refugees from Pak occupied Kashmir be paid compensation of Rs 25 lakh per family as one time settlement.
Referring to the proposed Rs 7000 crore package for refugees of PoJK, Chammb and those from West Pakistan, JSM leaders Prof Virender Gupta and H B Khajuria demanded that Government as one time settlement should provide at least Rs 25 lakh per family to the refugees from PoJK and the Government should give notification in this regard in the national dailies calling applications from the concerned refugees, presently residing outside the State for their registration as refugee. Those who have not yet been registered and their applications are lying with the Rehabilitation Department be registered.
They said that the family which before migration was existing as separate one and forced to live jointly with other family because of tragedy of losing the other members be treated as separate family. The Custodian property at present under the possession of refugees be allotted to the concerned refugees and moreover, at least 8 seats in the Legislative Assembly be reserved for the refugees from PoJK, they added.
