PULWAMA, Nov 22: Describing Gujjar and Bakerwal communities an integral part of the society, Minister for Forest, Environment and Ecology Mian Altaf Ahmad today asked these communities to fight for their legitimate rights and basic needs.
The Minister was addressing a function at Nai Basti Tral organized by Department of Wildlife Protection in connection with distribution of solar lights among the habitations of Wazulkulnar, Brimjinar Machama, Lansgaud Machama, Nagbal Chenparan, Zajikhod and other areas.
As many as 127 solar lights worth Rs. 5 lakh were distributed by the Minister among 127 beneficiaries of these areas which have not been covered under electrification till date.
Mian Altaf said that the Government is committed to extend the same facility to other uncovered far flung areas of the State with the support of the Central Government, adding that the solar home lights improve the living conditions of the far flung habitation, besides ensure the educational facility to the children.
The Minister said that nature has gifted vast area of Tral with lush green and dense forest containing varied and unique wildlife species and natural vegetation. The area has a distinction with many numbers of protected areas.
Mian Altaf stressed for making efforts for the preservation of wildlife and forest wealth so that future generations of State are benefited with this treasure.
Former MLA Tral, Mohammad Ashraf Bhat, Conservator of Forests Wildlife, Shuja Hyderi, Wildlife Warden South Circle, Imtiyaz Ahmad Lone, Wildlife Warden Shopian, Ghulam Ahmad Lone and other officers were present on the occasion.
