JAMMU, Jan 28: PoJK Displaced Persons’ Front staged a demonstration here at Press Club of Jammu on Saturday.
As per a statement, the protest was led by Front President Capt (retired) Yudvir Singh and General Secretary JP Sharma.
Addressing media persons, Front President Capt (retired) Yudvir Singh said that after a long struggle, Prime Minister Narendra Modi sanctioned an amount of Rs 20,000 crores (Pradhan Mantri Package) to the PoJK Displaced refugees.
“While 80% of families have been paid some of the amount, part of the instalment of the PM Package, the remaining 20% are running from pillar to post but they’re not being paid the same owing to the fact that some of the refugee families have lost their land documents and other records,” he said.
As such, he requested the LG, Manoj Sinha to raise the issue of clearance of the pending payments besides other demands of the refugees with HM Amit Shah and PM Narendra Modi.
The other demands allotment of minimum 10 marla plots for housing for non-camp refugees, ST status to migrant PoJK refugees, payment of JPC recommended full Rs 30 lakh to the 80% refugee families, allotment of 4 acre/family irrigated land to non-camp refugees, and allotment of 12 seats out of 24 PoJK seats held in abeyance.
Kuldip Singh Chib, Kulbir Singh Chib, Sakandya Devi, Kamal Sharma among others accompanied Capt (retired) Yudvir Singh during the protest.
