JAMMU, July 24: The displaced persons (DPs) from Pak occupied Jammu and Kashmir held strong protest demonstration in support of their demands near Press Club here today.
A large number of DPs led by POJK DP’s front leader Capt (Retd) Yudhvir Singh Chib assembled at Press Club in the morning on Wednesday and started protest. They were shouting slogans against State authorities and also in support of the issues of the displaced persons from POJK now residing in various parts of Jammu region and outside.
Capt Chib while addressing large gathering said that Modi Govt had sanctioned Rs 2000 crore relief package for the displaced persons three years ago but even till today, this amount has reached to hardly one third of the families. Many families have been denied the relief package ( Rs 5.50 lakh) installment on flimsy grounds. Due to lack of old documents and record available with the State Govt and DP families, the process of identification and issuance of relief has gone very slow.
The DPs’ leader demanded that procedure be simplified. He demanded that Identity cards should be issued to the DPs by the Govt, PRC process should also be simplified and should be fixed within fixed time of 15 days or maximum one month, old revenue record be properly maintained and computerised, Backward Classes status be given to the POJK DPs, their wards should be given reservation in professional institutions and Government service, 12 seats be made reserved for POJK DPs and Development Board be constituted for their welfare.
He further demanded that supplementary list of 1000 non-camp DPs families should be accepted, non-camp landless DPs families be given agriculture land , JCP report should be implemented, ownership rights be given to the camp DPs of 1965 and 71 and delimitation should be completed before Assembly elections.
Prominent among others who also spoke on the occasion included , JP Sharma, RP Singh, Kulbir Singh Chib, Sakandya Devi, Ch Sukhjinder, Capt Sudesh Chib, Master Kehar Singh, RK cerma and Pritma Kumari.
