Jammu, July 24: Three days Curriculum Implement-ation Support Programme (CISP) cum workshop concluded today in Government Medical College, Jammu. It was accreditated by State Medical Council and was directly monitored by observers from Medical Council of India.
More than 30 faculty members have been trained by the Curriculum Committee of GMC, Jammu in the new medical curriculum. The programme was supported by Medical Education Unit of the institution.
Dr. Sunanda Raina, Principal GMC Jammu, in her address, said that the Medical Council of India has revised the undergraduate medical education curriculum so that the Indian Medical Graduate is able to recognize “health for all” as a national goal and should be able to fulfill his/her societal obligations.
The revised curriculum has attempted to enunciate the competencies the student must be imparted and should have learnt, with clearly defined teaching-learning strategies and effective methods of assessment. Communicating effectively and sympathetically with patients and their relatives has been visualized as a core area of the revised curriculum.
Dr. Raina further maintained that these and other goals identified in the curriculum are to be implemented in all Medical Colleges under the ambit of Medical Council of India from August 2019 and to smoothen this process Guidelines have been prepared for its effective implementation. She lauded the trained faculty and resource persons of the training programme i.e. Dr. Ashok Sharma, Dr. Vishal Tandon, Dr. Rachna Magotra, Dr. Rajesh Sharma and Dr. Mohd Razaq.
