JAMMU, Mar 13: PoJK Displaced Persons’ (DPs) Front today held a protest rally at Exhibition Ground here wherein they demanded the Government to sanction whole funds sanctioned by the Prime Minister to PoJK DPs well before Assembly/Parliament elections.
Hundreds of PoJK DPs of 1947, 1965, 1971 and non-camp 1971 led by president of PoJK DPs’ Front, Yudhvir Singh Chib assembled this morning at Exhibition Ground and staged a sit-in protest. Carrying banners, placards and flags in their hands, the protesting PoJK DPs raised slogans in support of their demand.
Addressing the gathering, Yudhvir Singh Chib said that DPs are still living in penury as Rs 2000 crore sanctioned by the Prime Minister for disbursement to POJK refugees, has been distributed to minimum DPs’ families so far. He alleged that process of identification is going on at very low pace due to lack of previous documents which neither available with claimants nor in old record rooms of J&K Government.

He said if the Central/State Government does not distribute the sanctioned amount prior to the upcoming Assembly/ Parliamentary elections, all the DPs will prefer to push NOTA button in elections.
Other demands highlighted in the rally were backward status to all PoJK DPs, reservation to all DPs in educational/technical educational institutions, employment and in Assembly (12 seats). Their demands also included setting up of Development Board for PoJK DPs, allotment of agriculture land to non-camp landless DP’s families, ownership rights to Camp DPs of 1965 and 1971, acceptation of supplementary list of 1000 Non-Camp DPs, etc.
