SRINAGAR, Mar 13: Jammu & Kashmir Awami Forum today announced that they will take part in the Parliamentary and Assembly elections in the Valley.
Addressing a press conference in which all the constituency presidents and the members of the party were present, they said that the party is ready to take part in the elections.
Party chairman Farooq Ahmad Ganie and other senior members said that the party has decided to participate in the elections after consulting their constituency presidents and other members. “The party will contest for the 32 Assembly seats and three Parliamentary seats of the Valley. The names of the contestants for Parliamentary seats will be announced in few days and the Assembly seats after the Parliamentary elections,” Ganie said.
He said the party also took part in the Panchayat elections held last year in which 2200 candidates of the party participated and 1072 candidates emerged as winners.
While speaking on the occasion, vice president of the party, Dr Abdul Rashid Banday said that they will be contesting from every part of the Valley particularly from constituencies of Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal district.

He said the efforts of the party will be to make the State corruption free, addiction free and violence free, besides work for the unemployment and development of the State.
The party also condemned the Pulwama attack and attack on students and traders outside Kashmir.
They also requested the Central Government and the Governor to provide security for the candidates of the party who are contesting the elections.
