JAMMU, Aug 31: In continuation with its Jan Jagran Abhiyan launched a month ago, SOS International –an organization for PoK Displaced Persons today held a massive rally at Maheshpora Chowk here to educate the displaced persons from PoJK about their rights and the power vested in them as original State subjects of the State and also as the voters who hold key in 25 out of 37 Assembly segments.
The displaced persons from various parts of Jammu attended the meeting.
Rajiv Chunit Chairman of the organization while addressing the gathering complimented them for expressing their confidence in SOS and showing seriousness towards their cause.  He said in 1954 the then Government during a Cabinet meeting had decided to initiate measures for temporary rehabilitation of the displaced people from PoJK. Despite lapse of 67 years the decision was not implemented, he added.
Chuni said during last 60 years no headway in this regard was made and it seemed that there was no Government in place to do justice to these hapless refugees.
He said Government has completely shut its eyes towards these hapless refugees. He also took a dig at coalition and said that for public posture they hurl allegations on each other otherwise both parties are faces of the same coin and have betrayed the refugees till date.
Mr Chuni said what happened to the package which was prepared by the State Government for the displaced persons and why till date it was not submitted to Centre. This has put a question mark over the sincerity of coalition towards these hapless people fighting for their rights for over six decades now.
He warned the political parties that the members of the DPs will repay them in the same coin during coming elections as they have betrayed them till date.
