JAMMU, Sept 25: Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) expressed its profound satisfaction over the recent decision of the Government in undertaking the repairs and renovation of some temples in Kashmir including the large and famous Raghunath Mandir situated at Fateh Kadal, Srinagar.
Chairman of the PNBMT, Roshan Lal Pandita while speaking in the Webinar today said though belated it is a step in the right direction. He said though the move of the Government in renovating some temples in Kashmir is too little too late, yet it shows the positive intent of the Government and would instill some confidence in the displaced community that more such moves would be undertaken in future also.
PNBMT, has been spearheading a movement for the passage of a Temples Bill for the protection and preservation of the temples and shrines in Kashmir for the last one decade. The Bill had reached the floor of the Assembly, but could not be passed due to political wrangling.
Pandita, appealed the Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha to bring an ordinance for the passage of the Temples and Shrines Bill at the earliest. The repairs being undertaken by the Government is of a few temples in Kashmir, whereas a vast majority of them lie in a dilapidated condition. The temples and shrines properties in Kashmir have been usurped and in many cases sold and alienated and need to be stopped and checked by the passage of the said ordinance in Kashmir.
PNBMT, appeals to the Government to bring an ordinance in this regard to save the priceless heritage of thousands of years that not only belongs to Kashmiri Hindus but to the entire mankind. The Webinar was also attended by the Dy. Chairman of the Trust Shiban Khaibri, general secretary, Shadi Lal Koul Rais and secretary Sundri Lal Koul.
