NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday described people’s mandate in 2019 elections as one of the biggest events of the world in the millennium and said the world will be forced to register and recognise the power of India’s democracy.

Dedicating the mandate to the power of the people, he said it was not a small feat that the turnout in voting was maximum notwithstanding the scorching heat upto the level of 42 degrees Celsius.

”I go down humbly before the people,” he said and maintained that the election outcome was akin to people giving their blessings to a Fakir (hermit).

The Prime Minister said the mandate has exposed the double-standards of the political class who sought to justify everything in the name of secularism. (AGENCIES)
