SRINAGAR, Aug 24: Prime Minister, Narendra Modi today held his 14th monthly video conference under his Pro-active Governance and Timely Implementation (PRAGATI) initiative, with Union Secretaries of various Ministries and Chief Secretaries of States.
Chief Secretary J&K, B R Sharma also participated in the video conference.
Prime Minister besides reviewing progress of various central projects also reviewed the status of public grievances/complaints pertaining to school education & literacy. He asked Secretary, Union HRD Ministry to leverage space technology for mapping schools in the country besides evolve a suitable mechanism for effective and quick redress of grievances.
“Public grievances should be divided in terms of suitable action needed at the personnel level, process level, policy level or resource level and dealt with accordingly within the shortest time”, he said.
Prime Minister also received brief on the status of various National Highway Projects including the 4 lane Srinagar-Banihal stretch of the National Highway-44 in J&K. Prime Minister was informed that Srinagar-Banihal stretch is in advance stage of completion and all efforts are being made to complete the project by December 31, 2016.
Prime Minister lauded the efforts of the State Governments in the nationwide campaign to achieve universal accessibility for persons with disabilities.
Prime Minister also reviewed the progress of Aadhaar enrolment under which, till date 104.60 crore citizens now have Aadhaar against a total population of 128 crore. Prime Minister urged State Governments to expedite Aadhaar enrolment of remaining population with special focus on age group between 5 yrs to 18 yrs so that benefits linked with Aadhaar can accrue to this group in terms of scholarships etc.
