
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today referred to the Emergency clamped on the people of the country in 1975 and said the struggle of a galaxy of opposition leaders, including Jaiprakash Narayan and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, will be remembered for the way people united to safeguard democratic values.
Calling for eternal vigilance, the Prime Minister said, “The Emergency will be remembered for the way in which people of India came together and safeguarded the democratic values”.
In his ‘Mann-Ki-Baat’ radio address through All India Radio, Mr Modi also read out a poem penned by Mr Vajpayee. He also greeted people on the occasion of Eid and Jagannath Rath Yatra (AGENCIES)
