JAMMU, July 16: The PM package employees continued their protest in front of RC Office here today demanding their transfer to Jammu till return of complete normalcy in Valley.
The protesters shouting slogans said that they can’t work in Kashmir Valley under the prevailing situation as they are facing a grave threat from the hands of subversives and anti-social elements while recalling their experience and ordeal they met during last five years in Valley.
Later a delegation of protesting employees met Union Minister of State in PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh and Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh at Gandhi Nagar and demanded that they be shifted to Jammu till complete normalcy is restored in Valley.
The migrant employees especially the women narrated their tale of woes to Union Minister and Deputy Chief Minister and alleged that they face humiliation and harassment in Kashmir and during the recent violence the mob attacked their transit camps with stones at a number of occasions. They said mere providing security to them in transit camps can’t solve their problem as they have no such security outside the camps especially while going to their work places.
These employees also handed over a memorandum to Dr Jitendra Singh highlighting their problems. They sought immediate intervention of Union government in the matter. Dr Singh assured the employees that they will be provided adequate security as the Government was duty bound to give all sort of protection to minorities in Kashmir. He also assured them that no decision will be taken without consultation of the package employees.
Dr Nirmal Singh also assured them that every possible step will be taken for the safety and security of the package employees and other members of minority community in the Valley.

He demanded action against the cops who beat the driver and harassed the migrant family unnecessarily. He said a child which was also traveling in the vehicle is still in the shock due to the harassment it met through the hands of police at Panthachowk.
Mr Pandita has made an appeal to DG Police to probe the matter and take action against the erring cops.
