PM blames CAG for delaying infrastructure projects

NEW DELHI : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, whose Government has frequently been castigated by the CAG over the 2G, coal allocation and other scams, today blamed the top auditor for the delay in the execution of the infrastructure projects.
Addressing the AICC session here, the Prime Minister said projects were often delayed as the officers hesitated to take decision.
He said this decision was due to the fear of the CAG as they felt that for their decisions they would be subjected to the CAG. The Prime Minister, however, said his Government was committed to carry on its developmental agenda and fight poverty.
He also said charges of corruption were being levelled against his Government but it was his Government that had done the most to fight corruption and bring transparency in the working of the Government through RTI Act and Lokpal Bill. (AGENCIES)
