Plight of Pensioners

Sir,
Pensioners of Jammu and Kashmir State are facing multiple problems in their advanced stage of life. Health related problem stands major one. Lions share of their income stands expended on the purchase of medicines which are highly costly today. The purchase of essential items for their day-to-day use has also made their life difficult.
They have to face huge stress and strain while standing in long queues for hours together in meeting their urgent needs. In the previous popular Govt in the State, pensioners had on several occasions, put forth their character of demands but all went-vain. Since the present dispensation in the State of Jammu and Kashmir has taken several decisions with regard to welfare of the people in the State, the State pensioners have also pinned their hope on the present Govt for their grievances redressal. Among the main issues the meagre medical allowance of Rs 300 which is given to State employees and pensioners since 20 years should be raised minimum to Rs 2000 P.M. The same stands grossly raised in favour of the legislators including ex-legislators too. State employees and pensioners are left high and dry. This is a grave injustice with this section of society in the present hard times. Justice delayed is justice denied. The State Govt needs to take immediate and favourable action in the matter that stands the primary demand of State pensioners since long ago.
