Sir,
Jammu University is admitting students for MA, MSc, M.Ed and some other courses through entrance since 2011 . Entrance is a very sound method of admiting students to various courses as it brings out the best . Percentage of marks at graduation level as criteria for admitting students to PG courses has been abandoned by reputed institutions of the country long ago . But it is unfortunate that Jammu University has not realised the value of entrance and through successive years it has raised the weightage of points for percentage at graduation level and made the entrance only of a qualifying nature.
This is an eyewash and great injustice with students who fail to get good marks at graduation level due to some reason or the other including the lack of quality evaluation and teaching techniques. One wonders why the Jammu University is still determining the merit of students for PG courses on the basis of marks secured at graduation level though even for jobs to PSC and SSB the academic marks are not taken into account. The concerned authorities should look into the matter and switch over to entrance method in true spirit and not play with the career of aspiring students.
Yours etc….
Vijay Kumar and Subash Kumar,
Kishtwar.
