JAMMU, May 12: Sarveshwar Dayal Sexana’s play ‘Hawalat’ was today staged at Natrang Studio Theatre here under the direction of Neeraj Kant.
The story of the play ‘Hawalat’ revolves around three young men who have no place to live in a cold night of winters. They also have no food and shelter. Finding nobody to offer them shelter, they thought it proper to have the same in a police lock-up.
For this, they approached a cop as criminals and the cop asked them to establish their credentials by demonstrating their expertise in crime and past accomplishments.
After their attempts to convince the cop failed, the cop agreed to take them to the lock-up after tying their eyes but in turn the cop made them take rounds at a cross road and finally left them at the same place from where they had started. The play is a big satire on the exploitation of the youth by the present system.
Chirag Anand, Sushant Singh Charak, Gopi Sharma and Udit Sagar acted in the play.
The music of the play was given by Meenakshi Bhagat whereas lights were designed and executed by Neeraj Kant. The show was coordinated by Sumeet Sharma.
