JAMMU, Nov 26: Panun Kashmir (PK) conducted the meeting of its Political Affairs Committee (PAC) here today  under the chairmanship of  Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, its president.
It was attended among others by  Utpal Kaul, Senior leader-PK, Virender Raina, national spokesperson, Kamal Bagati, general secretary (Org), Virender Kaul, organisaing secretary, N.M.Gadroo, treasurer, Vijay Qazi, P.K.Bhan, K.K.Kaul, Surinder Kaul and Sameer Bhat, convener, Panun Kashmir Youth.
In his speech,  Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, gave a brief to the members of the PAC about the second round presentation made before the Centre’s representative.  He appreciated the role of the representative and said that his recent statement that the “issues of the refugees, migrants and border dwellers are on top priority of the Government” is a great welcome statement. This is indicative of the change of political narrative regarding Jammu and Kashmir at a national level, he added.
He said for six long decades, a section of the population of Jammu and Kashmir was given a special treatment and pampered at the cost of the minorities of Kashmir and the regions of Ladakh and Jammu. The issues of Kashmiri majority community were seen with the magnifying glasses while the others were left at the mercy of their fate. The end result of such a policy is that the Kashmiri Pandit community was forced to live as refugees in its own country, the West Pak Refugees were treated as second class citizens, he added.
Kamal Bagati gave full details of the presentation made in the meetings with  Dineshwar Sharma. He said that P K took up three specific points with the representative of the Centre. First was that no authority in India is mandated to discuss the issue of secession of any part of the country with anyone. There is an imperative need to draw a baseline for any dialogue emphasizing that Kashmir is no exception in this regard.
Panun Kashmir made it clear that from the day one it has been saying that the townships in Kashmir are no alternative to our miseries. “We believe that homeland for Pandits in the Valley with Union Territory status is the only solution”. It detailed him about the resolution passed by Panun Kashmir in December 1991; Kashmiri Pandits demanded that the Centre create a homeland comprising the regions of the Valley to the East and North of river Jhelum.
It was also emphasized that the promised declaration for appointment of 3,000 youth under the PM’s Package Plan needs to be translated into reality urgently. A separate Recruitment Board should be constituted in this regard. The over aged youth issue need immediate settlement with a onetime compensation plan of Rs 25 lakh per family.
