JAMMU, May 16: A Mata Vaishno Devi shrine pilgrim from Hyderabad in Telangana was killed by a shooting stone at Sanji Chat this morning when he was heading towards the cave shrine. He has been identified as Sampat Kumar Rao, 59, a resident of Hyderabad.
Rao along with family members had come to visit the shrine when a shooting stone hit him at Sanji Chat resulting into his on spot death.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) handed over Rs 3 lakh worth insurance claim to the family of Rao. The claim was given by the Shrine Board pending settlement by the insurance company. The Board also paid entire amount for airlifting body of the victim to Hyderabad through air cargo, official sources said.
