JAMMU, May 10: PHE Employees United Front has expressed strong resentment against the Government for its failure to release the pending wages of the PHE workers and regularise their services despite assurances by Government many times.
In a joint press conference here today general secretary of the Front, Navdeep Singh, senior members Kartar Chand Dubey, Subash Verma, Bhanupartap Singh and others alleged that a large number of PHE causal workers have been constantly struggling for their genuine and justified unresolved demands for the last two decades but the previous state Governments and present Administration have failed to address the grievances of the poor PHE workers.
They said many workers have rendered more than 20-years service in the department but their services could not be regularized despite assurances given to the workers time to time. They further expressed that the earned wages for the last 55-months could not be disbursed to workers and PHE authorities failed to arrange month wise wages for the workers also. The workers were hoping that the Governor will pay proper attention towards the demands of the workers but the delaying policy like successive Governments is still continuing.
They recalled that on March 25 and 26, 2019 the PHE employees and workers observed Kam Chhor Hartal in Jammu region and sensing the pressure of the struggling employees, the State Govt responded and appointed Commissioner Secretary, PHE I&FC Department for negotiation with the leadership of the employees and after negotiation the Commissioner / Secretary assured the employees to solve all the pending genuine issues shortly. But till today nothing happened. The Front leadership has demanded to remove the wages ban on casual workers who have not paid 12 months wages from 3/2015 to 3/2016. They said there are 22053 such workers whose fate is hanging in balance.
The United Front decided to conduct Gherao of Chief Engineer PHE, Jammu and whole BC Road complex of PHE on May 21, if the Government failed to settle their main two issues by May 20, 2019.
Senior members Bakshi Singh, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Ajay Sharma, Kulbushan Singh, Davinder Singh, Ravi Kumar and Rakesh Kumar were also present on the occasion.
