UDHAMPUR, Apr 13: The district unit of Water Works (PHE) Employees Association today held a protest rally at Majalta under the leadership of Association Som Nath Sharma, senior vice-president of PHE Employees Association, Jammu province.
A large number of employees and workers drawn from Khoon, Mansar, Thial, Manwal, Battal, Damma and other far flung areas of Majalta tehsil participated in the rally. Raising slogans against the Government, the protesting employees demanded PHE authorities to immediately release daily rated workers’ wages, which is pending for last five years.
Addressing the protesting employees, Som Nath said the department has not released wages of daily rated workers since 2014 and now the Chief Engineer, PHE Department, Jammu is releasing one month salary for the month of April 2019. He questioned authorities as who will release the pending wages and when.
He said the already disappointed workers have now lost their patience. He appealed the authorities to release all pending wages of workers and make a provision to pay monthly wages to the daily rated workers in the future. He also discarded the policy announced by the Government in the shape of SRO 520 for regularization of daily rated workers.
Som Nath appealed Governor SP Malik to personally intervene and pass directions for early release of pending wages of daily rated workers of PHE department, besides speeding up the process of regularization of their services.
