JAMMU, June 19: The PHE United Front held protest demonstration outside the office of Chief Engineer PHE, BC Road Jammu and various other Divisional offices and water stations in Jammu in support of their pending demands.
Led by various leaders of the United Front, including, Bakshi Singh, Subhash Verma, Shiv Kumar Sharma and others, the PHE employees and daily rated workers, the protesters were shouting loud slogans in support of their demands and also against the Government. They alleged that they were befooled every time by the top officers when they launched protests and long agitations.
Even during last time, their strike was broken by giving false assurances but no promise with regard to workers’ regularization or release of pending wages was honoured. They said that even the other issues of the employees like conduct of DPC, filling up of vacant posts, clearance of SRO-43 cases, provision of tools at other facilitiwes at water stations, enhancement of Medical allowance etc were not resolved by the higher authorities.
A large number of daily rated/ consolidated workers led by Tanveer Hussain held proest at Boria water station. The workers said that United Front has decided to observe two days strike on June 22-23 and the work in all the PHE offices/ water stations will remain suspended in the region. They held Govt responsible for causing delay in resolving their issues. They demanded that wages of the PHE workers pending for the last over 55 months be released as their families are facing starvation.
