Srinagar, May 12: The Public Health Engineering Department (PHE) in HMT area of Srinagar in league with the land mafia is providing an approach road to agriculture land where they are planning to illegally build a residential colony.
Residents of the area told Excelsior that few days back part of the boundary wall of the PHE office HMT was demolished in the name of repairs as land mafia was persuading the local officials for approach road to the agriculture land with an am to build residential colony there. They alleged that the land mafia has paid huge amounts of money to local officials for the favour which will later fetch them crores of rupees.
The Assistant Executive Engineer of the PHE of the area didn’t respond to the phone call for clarification but Chief Engineer PHE Kashmir, Abdul Wahid, told Excelsior that there is no question of an inch of land being given to anybody. “I will inquire why was the boundary wall demolished. I will ensure that no approach road is provided through PHE property. There is no question that it will happen”, he said.
