PHE employees protest over pending salaries

SRINAGAR, Sept 24: Public Health Engineering (PHE) daily wagers held a protest demonstration today at press enclave here demanding the release of long pending salaries.
Scores of daily wagers under the banner of Kashmir PHE Joint Employees Association while carrying placards raised slogans seeking release of their long pending wages.
The protesting employees blame PHE Department of holding their salaries from more than 21 months. “Our files are pending in the Finance Department from past 21 months and they are dilly dallying the process. Even on the auspicious day of the Eid, our salaries were not released,” they said.
Association Chairman, Sajad Ahmad Parray said that their families are having tough times due to delay in their salaries. “Our families are on the verge of starvation. We don’t even have money to pay fee of our wards and they are being thrown out of the schools. We are facing immense hardships as we don’t have money to feed our families,” he said.
The protesting employees threatened that if their salaries are not paid within two days, they will lock down all the PHE offices.
