JAMMU, Feb 4: PHE Workers Welfare Association started a week long chain hunger strike from today in PHE Complex here in support of the long pending demands of field and operational staff of the department.
The Association is demanding regularization of all sorts of PHE workers after the completion of five years of service, clearance of 22 months of backlog wages of workers, disbursement of wages of workers before 5th of every month regularly, holding of DPC meeting against the vacant posts, framing of concrete recruitment policy of PHE Department and creation of higher scale posts to create the promotion avenues for all stagnated employees etc.
The first batch of seven members of the Association belonging to PHE Mechanical Division South who sat on the fast today included Vishav Nath Dubey, Omkar Singh, Puran Chand, Parshotam Kumar, Mushtaq Ahmed, Shamas-ud-Din and Sat Paul Singh.
Subash Verma provincial general secretary of the Association while addressing the employees at strike venue said that the employees have been forced towards the unwanted agitation because of callous attitude of the concerned authorities.
He said the agitation will continue on democratic and non-violence principles to achieve the goal.
Bakshi Singh provincial president of the Association while addressing the protestors said the discriminatory and partial attitude of the present PHE authorities is condemnable. Before adopting agitational path the Association has made several requests to the authorities concerned but they failed to settle the issues.
