UDHAMPUR, Nov 11: Announcing second phase of the `Kaam Chorh Hartal’ for the release of pending wages of workers, Water Works (PHE) Employees Association, District Udhampur today extended the ongoing strike upto November 22.
Announcement in this regard was made by Som Nath, District president of the Association, while addressing a press conference, here today.
He criticized the attitude of PHE authorities towards poor workers, who have been serving the department without wages for no fault on their part. All other divisions of the PHE Department have made provision for online payment the workers but in PHE Division Udhampur, 618 workers are deprived of the same facility,” he said and appealed Lt Governor Girish Chandra Murmu for timely release of pending wages of these workers. He also appealed the LG to make provision in the next year budget for wages of such workers.
Reiterating that the struggle will continue till release of pending wages of the workers, Som Nath extended ongoing first phase of the ongoing `Kaam Chorh Hartal’ from November 4 to November 22.
Besides seeking release of the pending wages, the Association leader also demanded regularization of CP/TI/Land Cases workers, conduct of DPC, change of designation as per work and biometric attendance of the workers . Som Nath appealed the PHE authorities to show seriousness for doing justice with the poor workers.
Others, who were present in the press conference, included Vijay Kumar Sharma, Suraj Parkash, Dinesh Kesar, Balveer Singh, Aman Dubey , Prabhu Lal, Shamsher Singh, Joginder Kumar, Mohan Lal and Som Raj.
