JAMMU, Dec 7: Several illegal/unregistered water connections were disconnected today by the PHE Department in Gandhi Nagar area of Jammu.
A team of PHE Sub Division Gandhi Nagar led by R K Mahajan, Executive Engineer PHE City-II Division Jammu visited some of the commercial establishments spread across Gandhi Nagar and disconnected unregistered commercial water connections installed at Surya Milk Shop and one more nearby shop at Gole Market. These shops were earlier issued notices for getting their water connections registered with PHE Department.
One domestic water connection which was being misused for commercial activities was also disconnected at Gandhi Nagar. Besides, two un-registered water connections installed in a nursery opposite Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar were also disconnected. One such un-registered commercial water connection in use by the GenNext, the Ultra Sound Centre was regularized with penalty.
The team later reached Asia Hotel and started disconnection of water connection which was to be followed by sealing of the existing Bore also but the management of Hotel Asia promised to clear their outstanding water tax on priority and they were given time till Tuesday to settle the account.
