JAMMU, Mar 15: Jammu University Syndicate approved introduction of PG Courses in Economics and Political Science in the Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) and also approved amendment of statues of Master Degree Programmes and Professional Undergraduate courses being pursued in the higher learning institution.
This decision was taken during 101st University Syndicate meet, which was held under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar today.
While speaking, 76 agenda items were presented by Prof Naresh Padha, Registrar, University of Jammu.
During the meet, deliberations were held regarding implementation of the choice based credit system. However, amendment in the Jammu University Entrance Test (JUET) was also recommended by the Syndicate members and will be implemented from the forthcoming academic session.
The members also granted temporary and permanent affiliation to Private and Government Colleges.
The amendment has also been made in the BDS course as per Dental Council of India (DCI). Modifications of the regulations governing teacher welfare fund, local fund of the University, development fund of DDE, local funds of various departments of the University and Quality Assurance Funds have also been endorsed.
Meanwhile, powers of XEn have been enhanced to accord technical sanction to various projects from existing Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
Appointments of 25 Asstt Professors and other Assistant Registrars were also confirmed, whereas the post of Class IV employees has been re-designated as Daftaries. Fifty percent internal promotion of the computer staff was also endorsed. Reconstitution of works committee was also recommended.
Earlier, Vice Chancellor welcomed the members and apprised them about the major developments and achievements of the University during the past one-year.
