MENDHAR, Mar 4: The people of Mendhar held protest demonstration today demanding posting of specialist doctors in the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Mendhar.
The locals alleged “step-motherly treatment” by the officers of the Health department. The protest was led by Beopar Mandal president Mendhar – Parveen Kumar Sawhney. He said Sub-District Hospital Mendhar is a vital Health institution as it caters to the needs of more than a dozen main villages of the Sub-Division, with several lying along the Line of Control.
“The number of deaths and injuries in cross-border firing during last many years clearly shows the importance of this SDH,” Sawhney said, adding, “However, the hospital is running on God’s mercy.”
He alleged that several posts of specialist doctors have been lying vacant since long but the concerned quarters do not seem to be bothered. Except the placement of pediatrician, all other specialist doctors’ posts are lying vacant in this hospital, he added.
The locals of the area have appealed to the Governor’s administration to look into the issue and redress their grievances. Later, they met the SDM Mendhar Dr Sahail Jandial and Tehsildar Mendhar Vikram Sharma and presented their demand.
