KATHUA, Oct 13: People including family members of a truck driver held protest against the high handedness of Lakhanpur Police.
As per reports, a truck driver namely Sikander Pal Singh, son of Bhupinder Singh, a resident of Barnoti District Kathua was allegedly beaten by a police cop from Lakhanpur Police Station. The truck driver received injury in his arm and has been admitted into the District Hospital Kathua.
As the news spread, large number of people including truck operators, family members of the injured truck driver and villagers assembled outside District Hospital Kathua and held protest against the Police Department.
The protest was led by Ex-Sarpanch Amrik Singh, who while speaking alleged that the cop beat up the truck driver without any fault. He demanded strict action against the cop.
He added that the Police Department has failed to control the traffic jam at Lakhanpur toll post and used to harass the truck operators on one pretext and another.
On getting information, police team rushed to the spot and pacified the agitating people. Police team also recorded the statement of victim truck driver and started investigation.
