RAJOURI, Oct 6: The people from Baja Bain and Kangri area of Sunderbani today held protest demonstration and blocked Sunderbani-Seri Road for about two hours.
The villagers were protesting against the shifting of newly created Tehsil office from Beri Pattan to some other location at Seri. This tehsil was created by adding five Panchyats from Sunderbani and two Panchyats from Nowshera.
Agitated over the decision of some people in the Administration following political pressure, the people from Sunderbani area held strong protest against the move and blocked road for more than two hours. A long traffic jam was created there. Several locals of the area including Capt (Retd) Rattan Singh, Capt (Retd) Roshan Lal and Ramesh Chander addressed the gathering.
Later, Tehsildar Sunderbani, Vijay Sharma and local SHO reached the spot and they pacified the agitating villagers. Tehsildar assured the agitating people to take up the matter with the Deputy Commissioner, Rajouri. The public then suspended agitation.
