RAJOURI, July 10: The family members and relatives of a 40 year old missing man, whose dead body was recovered from forest area last evening, blocked road at Nagesh bridge here today and disrupted the movement of traffic for about five hours.
The agitating relatives and villagers from Pathan Morha along with the dead body of deceased Sheetal Kumar (40), son of Roop Lal, reached Nagesh bridge and placed it on the road and started protest dharna. With this blockade, the movement of vehicles on Jammu-Poonch road came to halt. The agitating people started protest against police and demanded arrest of all the accused persons involved in the murder of Sheetal Kumar.
Reports said that Sheetal Kumar, a driver had gone to Palulian village on the July 7 along with his Tata Mobile vehicle. He did not return home from there and the vehicle was also found abandoned in the area after family started search. On July 8, they lodged a report with the police and last evening at round 7.30 pm, his dead body was recovered from Ghai Dungi forest area. A villager noticed the body and informed police.
The police party led by SHO Rajouri reached the spot and after examining spot shifted body to hospital. Several injury marks were visible on the body. The family members received the body at around 9.30 am and then along with relatives and villagers sat on dharna at the bridge. They were demanding arrest of the accused and job for the widow of the deceased.
Later, DC Rajouri and SSP reached the spot and they assured the agitating family to provide a job to the woman as helper in SWD. Immediate assistance of Rs 20,000 was also provided to the family by the Administration. Later, they lifted dharna at around 3 pm.
The police claimed that three persons including a woman have been arrested in this connection and they were being interrogated. They included Khadam Hussain, Mohd Aksar and Shahida Kouser, hailing from Palulian village. The police suspect illicit relations of the deceased with the woman of the area. Further investigation was in progress.
