JAMMU, Sept 11: Police registered a case against National Conference (NC) district president Jammu Rural ‘B’ and forthcoming Assembly election’s contesting candidate Suchetgarh constituency Taranjeet Singh Tony for assaulting a Sarpanch in police station Arnia. However, BJP activists along with Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Suchetgarh Sham Lal today held protest outside SDPO Office RS Pura demanding strict action against Tony.
As per police sources, NC’s contesting candidate for Suchetgarh constituency Taranjeet Singh Tony assaulted Sarpanch of Byaspur Bhalla namely Tarseem Singh over some ration distribution issue at Police Station Arnia.
Police team rushed to the spot and pacified them. Police arrested a person namely Lovely Singh of Sai for assaulting the Sarpanch, which was objected by the people.
The people raised voice and demanded registration of case against Taranjeet Singh Tony for assaulting the Sarpanch.
A case under FIR number 50/14 under Section 323, 147 and 506 RPC has been registered against Tony at Police Station Arnia, whereas a case against Sarpanch Tarseem Singh under FIR number 51/14 under Section 323, 341/14 and 506 RPC has also been registered.
Meanwhile, BJP activists led by Member Legislative Assembly (MLA) Suchetgarh Sham Lal today held protest outside SDPO Office RS Pura demanding strict action against Taranjeet Singh Tony.
The protestors raised slogans against Police Department for not taking strict action against Tony. They also alleged that police is having hand in glove with Tony and due to this reason police is not initiating action against him.
On receiving information, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) RS Pura Rajinder Sharma rushed to the spot and assured the protestors that investigation into the case will be completed in 2 days. He also assured the protestors that strict action will be initiated against those who will find guilty.
On the assurance of SDM RS Pura, the protestors dispersed.
