JAMMU, Mar 6: People held protest over alleged sacrilegious act in Roop Nagar area, falling under the jurisdiction of Janipur Police Station.
As per police sources, a person saw the severed head of a calf near his residence in Roop Nagar area and informed the police. As the news spread, large number of people took to street and held protest.
They blocked the road connecting Akhnoor road from Janipur.
On getting information, police team rushed to the spot and assured the protesting people of conducting in depth enquiry into the incident.
When contacted, SHO Janipur SI Bimal Indu informed the Excelsior that people held protest after they saw a severed head of a calf.
It is assumed that the calf had died few days back as there was no fresh blood stains marks on the part of the calf, he said, adding that a case under FIR Number 22/18 under Section 295 RPC has been registered at Janipur Police Station and investigation started.
