SAMBA, June 27: People of various Wards under the leadership of Rajan Sharma, councillor and senior Congress leader, held a protest against PHE Mechanical Division for non supply of water to the Ward number 2, 5 , 6 and 7 in Vijaypur which are facing acute scarcity of drinking water for last so many days.
Addressing demonstrators Rajan Sharma said when we asked the reason for this to the concerned Department officials they said motor has developed a fault due to which they are unable to supply water to these wards. Sharma said we requested XEN and AEE concerned to kindly repair water supply pump earlier because the people are facing hardships in this harsh Summer as it is not possible to spend a single day without water. But the attitude of PHE officials was very disgusting, he added.
He said , there is no mechanism for working in Union Territory, where a common man could register their problems and get some relief. He said even there is no mechanism on ground to settle the public grievances. Sharma made an appeal to Lt. Governor seeking his immediate intervention in the matter so that the motor is restored and water supply is resumed to Vijaypur .
