MENDHAR, Sept 10: The people from Kottan village and adjoining areas held strong protest demonstration against the R&B and Revenue authorities for changing the survey of a PMGSY road from Mendhar to Upper Galuta.
The villagers including Panchayat members alleged that actual survey of the PMGSY road as been totally changed and work on the other side has been started creating lot of resentment among the people from Kottan area. They pointed out that this road is now being taken up about 2 kms away from the actual point.
They raised slogans against R&B and Revenue authorities and demanded intervention of higher authorities. They continued their protest at Shahidi Yadgar Mendhar for about 4 hours and later lifted dharna with the intervention of SDM Mendhar, Romesh Kumar and Tehsildar. They also spoke to Dy Commissioner Poonch on phone from there who asked to examine the issue in detail and take decision which is in the larger interest of the people of this area.
