JAMMU, Sept 10: A drug peddler was arrested by Nowabad police here for allegedly possessing 1 kilogram heroin worth around Rs 5 crore in international market.
A police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police party from Nowabad Police Station led by SHO Jai Pal Sharma laid a naka near MA stadium and intercepted a pedestrian namely Hoshiyar Singh, son of Shiv Kumar of Kathala, tehsil Bhaderwah, district Doda.
During frisking, police recovered 1 kilograms of heroin worth around Rs 5 crore in the international market from his possession, he said, adding that the drug peddler was arrested subsequently.
A case under FIR number 143/13 under Section 8/21/7 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Nowabad Police Station and investigation started.
