People protest against Food, Civil Supplies Deptt

KATHUA, Aug 19: The residents of village Pandrad held a protest demonstration against the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department for shifting the dealer from the village and allotting the ration depot to another dealer in his place who is from another village.
They also alleged shortage of ration in the area as the department has failed to supply the ration to the dealer for last two months. The protestors including the Sarpanch Rekha Devi , Panches Kuldeep Singh, Rajesh Kumar, Som Raj ,Ramesh Chander and BJP leader Shashi Sharma met Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ghanshyam Singh and apprised him about the ground situation. They alleged that the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department is allotting the ration depot to an outsider dealer in the village whereas the present dealer is working for last 20 years with honesty and dedication.
The department is not issuing the ration for the last two months to dealer and consumers are suffering a lot. The deputation wanted to know that why the Department is harassing the innocent dealer who is performing his duty sincerely and honestly.
They warned the department of dire consequences if they continue to harass the dealer and consumers for the personal interest of some vested officers. The ADC Ghanshyam Singh assured the deputation to take up the issue with concerned officers of the department for redressal of their issue.
