People call for peace on borders

ARNIA, May 21: Another new dawn and yet another ceasefire violation , the ruthless Pakistani Rangers today early in the morning started pounding the mortar shells on border outposts at several places in this sector, prompting  swift and strong retaliation by the BSF personnel, securing and guarding the International Border.
Shelling from across the border started very early in the morning today not giving the civilians a chance to run for the safety. Excelsior News was on the spot to cover the whole border situation in Arnia where the civilians were living under a constant fear of death, destruction and dismay. Click here to watch video
“We are living in a very tense atmosphere as the situation along the borders has drastically deteriorated from the past few days. The shelling is very intense and we have no other option but to leave our homes to run for the safety, “said a local resident of the area during interaction with Excelsior News.
“Guns are booming and banging in this forward area and we have been left in lurch by the State administration as no one is taking us seriously. Everyone comes and clicks picture of worst conditions. They give only assurances or false promises to bring us out from this hell,” said another depressed resident of Arnia, calling for peace on the borders.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti had made an appeal to Centre for a unilateral ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir during month of Ramzan  with a mission to get the State out of violence and bloodshed. And the Centre was agreed to conditional ceasefire proposal in Jammu and Kashmir during the holy month of Ramzan.
But the spirit of this initiative was defeated by both the terrorists and the Pak Rangers  hours after announcement.
“Police and other security agencies are working with full synergy with the civil administration to normalise the situation. We are fully engaged  in the rescue operation of the residents of this area whether it is evacuation of injured or providing them the facilities of food, shelter or medical assistance. The administration is on its toes to provide every possible help to the affected people. And our security forces are giving a befitting reply to Pakistani Rangers to silent their guns”, said R C Kotwal, SP Headquarters, Jammu.
Everyone talks to bring peaceful days back to the region but the efforts and approach  seems to be unilateral as majority of the affected people were not satisfied with arrangements made by the civil administration but were full with praise for the police and the security forces for their selfless contribution to the people and country.
The Government is in contact with the affected people of these areas and had made adequate arrangements for the safe stay in the relief camps set up by the State Government. Government is fully aware with the gravity of the situation and  is giving full support to the affected people of the area,”said Dr Gagan Bhagat, MLA.
