KATHUA, Mar 28: The irate people in Basholi held a protest demonstration at Zero Chowk and blocked Basholi-Kathua road for over two hours in protest against the water scarcity in the area.
The protesters who squatted on the road said that water supply in the area has been affected for last one week and despite repeated pleas by the people the authorities failed to restore the water supply in the area forcing them to come to streets.
They said that the water scarcity has led to many problems to the people and in case the same was not restored immediately the people will continue the protest. As the protesters refused to lift the road blockade the Tehsildar Basholi and SHO Basholi visited the spot and pacified the protesters.
They assured them that till restoration of piped water supply in the area the tanker supply will be started from tomorrow. On this assurance people lifted the road blockade.
