Intra-state drug peddler held with intoxicants

JAMMU, Mar 28: Police today arrested intra-state drug peddler along with large quantity of intoxicant capsules and tablets.
As per police sources, on specific information, the sleuths from Hari Market police post and District Special Branch (DSB) laid a naka at Malhotra Mohallah Gali near Kanak Mandi and asked a pedestrian to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the person escaped from the spot. Stinking something fishy, the cops chased and nabbed the person near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 2240 intoxicant capsules and 500 tablets from the possession of the man and arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Rakesh Kumar alias Sonu, son of Dharmbir, a resident of Dal Wali Gali, Kanak Mandi.
He had brought the consignment of drugs from New Delhi and was about to disseminate it among the youths here to make them drug addicts. Acting swiftly police thwarted his nefarious designs and saved the future of youths.
A case under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at City police station and investigation started.
Police team led by Incharge Hari Market police post SI Kunal Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SHO City Shakti Sharma, SDPO City Vivek Shekar Sharma, DySP DSB Karanjit and SP City Dr Vinod Kumar.
