SAMBA, Sept 9: The irate residents of Budwani half kilometers from here blocked the Jammu-Pathankote National Highway for 45 minutes this evening in protest against power failure in the village for last four days.
The protestors raising slogans squatted on the National Highway and did not allow the vehicles to pass. They demanded immediate restoration of transformer in the village which has developed a snag four days back.
Later Executive Engineer M&RE Division Vijaypur reached the spot and assured the agitating mob that transformer in the area will be installed by tomorrow. On his assurance the people lifted the road blockade.
Later the irate residents of Ward No 1 & 2 Samba also blocked the NH at Samba Chowk in protest against the breakdown of transformer in the area.
The road blockade continued late up to night as people were adamant to continue protest till the transformer is in the area.
