SAMBA, Mar 30: To register their anger against opening of wine shop near Vishwkarma Temple Vijaypur after shifting from Main Bazar Vijaypur, residents of the areas including women staged a demonstration at Main Chowk Vijaypur on Jammu-Pathankot National Highway in district Samba today.
The protesters disrupted movement of vehicular traffic for one and half hour on National Highway due to which commuters as well as pilgrims to holy cave of Mata Vaishno Devi were put to grave trouble.
The protesters shouted slogans against Samba district administration as well as the State Government and accused them of paying no heed to their pleas. They demanded that the wine shop should not be opened near the temple or in the locality as it will create a public nuisance.
After the assurance of SDM Vijaypur Ravinder Sharma the protestors dispersed.
It is pertinent to say that government has ordered to shift the wine shops 500 mts away from National Highway.
Meanwhile people in Industrial area Samba held a demonstration against the opening of wine shop in the area. A large number of men and women participated in the protest shouting slogans against the administration.
Another protest was held at Bari Brahmana SIDCO Chowk in which a large number of people participated. The protesters warned against opening of wine shop in the area.
