Pensioners urge Governor to redress their grievances

JAMMU, Nov 19: Municipal and Urban Local Bodies Pensioners Association, Jammu Province, has appealed the Governor Satya Paul Malik to redress the grievances of the pensioners at the earliest.
Today a meeting of the Association Jammu Province was conveyed under the chairmanship of Y S Jamwal, its president to discuss the issues of pensioners of Civic Bodies who strongly criticized the State Government for not giving due attention to the demand for enhancing their medical allowance from Rs 300/- to Rs 2000/ per month. On the other hand, the State Govt enhanced the medical allowance from Rs 1000 to Rs 5000 per month recently in favour of the Ex legislators of J&K besides doubling their pension to more than Rs 80000 per month, free air travel and Railway 1st class journey etc, they added.
“State Govt has adopted step motherly treatment with the pensioners/employees and seems interested only for the welfare of the legislators who have property and cash in several lakhs with them,” the Association alleged and added that that the old age sick
pensioners were suffering a lot and spending huge amount on sky rocking rates of medicines and clinical tests from their own pocket which are unbearable for them.
The Association also expressed dismay that the Local Fund Audit and Pensions Deptt J&K Govt has not yet issued a circular with regard to revision of Pension/Family Pension of the Civic Body pensioners like wise State Govt pensioners under Govt Finance Deptt Order OM number A/Mise (2008)-temp 1236, dated 14-06-2018, for
the information of Urban Local Bodies Pensioners /Family Pensioners who are residing in far flung areas directing them for submission of documents. The Association requested the Director General to issue a circular in this connection at the earliest.

Karan Singh, D P Kotwal, C L Koul, R K Gupta, ML Gupta, B D Choudhary Rehmat Ali, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Dev Raj Sharma and Balbir Singh Jamwal.
