JAMMU, Dec 4: The members of Jammu Kashmir Pensioners Association (JKPA) in a meeting here today urged the Government to implement the Health Insurance Scheme immediately on the pattern of Central Government pensioners.
Speakers said that pensioners in the year 2011-12 were asked to submit the application forms for the Health Insurance Scheme to be launched by the reputed insurance agencies but later on did nothing practical in implementing the same.
The meeting said that about 1.20 lakh pensioners of the State submitted their forms but unfortunately Government made no efforts on ground to implement the scheme. The Government had in principle agreed to implement the scheme but later it adopted delaying tactics adding to worries of pensioners.
Those who addressed the meeting included president JKPA, Syed Mohammed Altaf, secretary general L A Khan, joint secretary M K Kaloo and treasurer Devinder.
