KATHUA, Jan 29: The Provincial Electrical Employees Union (PEEU), Jammu, under the chairmanship of P.C Sharma, provincial president of the Union held a protest demonstration in support of their demand here at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park today.
They raised the slogans in favour of their demands. While addressing president of the Union PC Sharma criticized the statement of Finance Minister, Haseeb Drabu given in the State Assembly that Government is framing a road map for daily wagers.  Ridiculing it he said on the other side Government is claiming that the 60000 daily wagers are given permanent status.
He alleged that the Government is creating confusion among the daily wagers this way. The real picture is that Government has not made the workers permanent and only enhancement in wages is made to befool them. He has also demanded release of wages of need based workers who are crying since months.
While highlighting the other issues he has demanded provision of wages of need base/casual labour/ seasonal labour who have been included/uploaded through biometric identification in 60000 workers list but not being paid against any wages head in routine, proper scale be allotted while their conversion in regular cadre.
He also demanded that need based workers who are in the list but not paid even single time be paid like other workers by making their budgetary provision against wages head and promotion avenues be created for such workers who are having good /technical qualifications like ITI, three years diploma in engineering/ degree in engineering etc.
He said the allowances being given to NPS employees be incorporated in the policy and  benefit of SRO-43 be also included in the policy.
Sharma further demanded amendment in SRO 520 by including above said points in the policy. The policy issued in shape of SRO-520 is quite unfortunate which, is sugar coated treatment to working class. The workers were in hope that they will be regularized at par with SRO 64 of 1994 retrospectively but issued policy is totally adverse. He condemned the Government. contractual, adhoc, casual, need and seasonal policy for needy and poor.
