JAMMU, Sept 16: BJP Mahila Morcha national president, Vijaya Rahatkar today said that peace, prosperity and welfare of the Jammu and Kashmir is the top most priority of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and the people of J&K and Ladakh have always been betrayed and deprived of development in the name of Article 370 by those who ruled the State for the past seven decades.
Addressing a Mahila Morcha meeting at Akhnoor today she said by abrogation of Article 370, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has put an end to this injustice. After scrapping of Article 370 a new era has begun in J&K and Ladakh. The country has taken a historic and bold decision, she added.
Rahatkar said the dreams of many of our leaders have been fulfilled. She said that the abrogation of Article 370 was part of the party’s core ideology and it had struck an emotional chord with the party workers after its ideologue Shyama Prasad Mookerjee attained martyrdom in a jail at Srinagar in 1953 to protest the State’s special status. She added that earlier, residents of J&K could not avail the benefits under the laws that were applicable to the entire nation.
Rahatkar said that today womenfolk from Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh are lavishing praise on Narendra Modi and Amit Shah for the abrogation of controversial articles which will now protect the human rights of the women living in J&K and help them lead dignified life as promised by the Indian Constitution.
BJP State Mahila Morcha, president, Rajni Sethi said “due to the strong leadership of Narendra Modi, we have achieved the goal “Ek Vidhan-Ek Nishan and Ek Pradhan”.
Rashim Sood national vice president of MM, said that Article 370 is responsible for present situation in Kashmir Valley and it was anti-women, anti-development and anti-human rights. She added that the Article has only worked against democracy and welfare of women of J&K.
Priya Sethi said that “We, the citizens of J&K, have got second freedom. Now, Jammu will move to an era of progress and prosperity.” It is also a slap on the face of the corrupt who had been siphoning off money provided by the Central Government for the development of the region.
State general secretary Updesh Andotra conducted the proceedings and vote of thanks presented by Ex MLA, Rajeev Sharma.
