Peace is incidental to elimination of terrorism: Chrungoo

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Nov 7: BJP State spokesperson on Kashmir Affairs, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo today said that the Pakistan occupied parts of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh are invariably on the top of the political agenda regarding UTs of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
Chrungoo in a statement issued from BJP headquarters, here said that terrorism in J&K is basically rooted in the Pak-occupied Jammu and Kashmir for a long time. Pakistan has all along made it sure that the land under it’s illegal control is misused for furtherance of terrorism and fundamentalism and all launch pads and terror camps in these areas need to be demolished and destroyed once and for all. Peace in Jammu and Kashmir is incidental to the elimination of terrorism coupled with fundamentalism, and towards this goal, finishing terrorism at its source is absolutely important.
The focus of development in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir will take care of the areas left unattended over the last 70 years. Tourism has a great potential in the unexplored areas of both Jammu and Kashmir divisions. Religious and cultural tourism will be prioritised with the creation of tourism infrastructure through global investment. Heritage buildings, old destroyed temples, huge monuments and unattended tourist venues need to be renovated, he added.
The steps taken over for the last three months have corrected a number of wrongs committed by the past Governments during the last seven decades in Jammu and Kashmir State. It is imperative now to change the nomenclature of KAS and KPS.
Chrungoo made an appeal to the Lt. Governor and his administration in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir to urgently consider filling up of all vacant posts under the PM Employment Package for the displaced community of Kashmir. The process for filling up of 500 posts earmarked for “non-migrant” youth of the Pandit and Sikh communities in the Valley also should be initiated without any further delay, he added.
The issue of the constitution of the “Kashmir Hindu Temples and Shrines Board” is also an issue of priority since it is considered as a prelude to the resettlement of the displaced Kashmiri Pandits back in the Valley as per their geo-political aspirations.
