KISHTWAR, July 25: Member Legislative Council, Firdous Tak today said that the strength of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lies in its agenda and cadre, who have stood up against the regional and national political establishments with a hope of peace, prosperity and development.
“Initiation of thought-process for a peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue was the biggest achievement of PDP and the party’s this contribution has been admired even by its opponents as well”, he said.
“The formation of governments at two occasions, first in 2002 and second in 2015, in J&K was not our achievement as attaining power was never the basic focus of the party but only means to achieve the goal”, Tak said while addressing a workers’ meeting in Padder area of Kishtwar district.
The PDP leader said the recent statement of National Conference president Farooq Abdullah in Lok Sabha was a clear indication that he too, followed the roadmap drafted by the PDP for an amicable resolution of Kashmir issue.
“Dr Abdullah, who talked about iron first policy to deal with neighbouring country and our own people in Kashmir, has started batting for good bilateral relations with Pakistan besides dialogue with all stakeholders to find a way out to Kashmir issue,” Tak said, adding that he realized the PDP’s idea that only dialogue and reconciliation process, coined by the visionary founder of PDP late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, would work in resolving all outstanding issues”.
He said the PDP was not a political movement but a people’s movement which came into being only to restore peace and start a thought-process to achieve this mission.
He said, ” The party leaders who have been rebelling and criticizing the PDP to grab power too have admitted that only PDP’s policies can usher peace and tranquility in trouble-torn J&K”.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Th Sujan Singh, Haji Mohammad Iqbal, Wasil Doolwal, Rajesh Kumar, Baldev Singh, Jagdish Kumar, Tsering Tondup, Mohammad Ali and Azgar Hussain.
